ORIENTATION PROGRAM AND PARENTS CONSULTATIVE MEETING

February 1, 2025 – ISU-R Gymnasium, Rang-ayan, Roxas, Isabela – The National Service Training Program (NSTP) of Isabela State University Roxas (ISUR) conducted a Students’ Orientation and Parents’ Consultative Meeting to provide first-year students and their parents with a comprehensive understanding of the NSTP’s purpose, structure, and impact. The event also aimed to foster collaboration between the school, students, and their families.The event saw the active participation of first-year students, their parents or guardians, and key school personnel, including the NSTP director, coordinators, and implementers. The substantial turnout reflected the participants’ enthusiasm and commitment to the objectives of the NSTP.NSTP Coordinator Dr. Arvin R. Palapuz led the orientation session, delivering an in-depth discussion on the program’s objectives, which emphasize civic consciousness, social responsibility, and holistic student development. The session covered essential aspects such as NSTP’s components, schedules, and academic expectations.Students were encouraged to embrace community service as a crucial aspect of fostering positive societal change. Dr. Palapuz highlighted the program’s core values—volunteerism, leadership, and teamwork—which are essential for students’ personal and professional growth.Following the orientation, a consultative meeting provided a platform for parents to voice their concerns and suggestions regarding their children’s participation in NSTP immersion activities. The school administration elaborated on the program’s benefits and offered insights into how parents could support their children throughout the program. Assoc. Prof. Narcisa B. Adangna and Mr. Noel A. Palapuz, coordinators of the Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS) and Literacy Training Service (LTS) programs, introduced the NSTP Oplan Framework 5.5, designed to enhance student involvement in community engagement through structured training modules and service activities. They emphasized the importance of strategic planning and collaboration between students, faculty, and community partners to maximize social impact.Parents raised inquiries about scheduling, logistics, balancing academic performance with community immersion, and safety protocols. These concerns were addressed thoroughly, reinforcing their confidence in the program. Many parents expressed their support and commitment to staying engaged in their children’s NSTP journey. A question-and-answer session followed, allowing students and parents to seek clarifications regarding program requirements, assessment methods, and academic responsibilities. Faculty members assured attendees that continuous guidance and support would be provided throughout the NSTP journey.The event concluded with a message of appreciation from NSTP implementer Assist. Prof. Joey C. Cereno, who commended the active participation and cooperation of students and parents. He reiterated the importance of collaboration among stakeholders and encouraged everyone to maximize their NSTP experience.As the program progresses, students and parents were reminded of the upcoming community immersion activities and NSTP sessions. The school assured parents of regular updates on their children’s progress, reinforcing its commitment to nurturing socially responsible and service-oriented individuals.This initiative strengthens the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on Quality Education, Sustainable Communities, Strong Institutions, and Partnerships for the Goals.
